20 Ways to feel free (The Liberation Challenge!)
We go to school to be able to gather knowledge.
We get knowledge so we can get a job.
We get a job so we can live in a house.
We live in a house so we can have a home.
We want a home we can continually work on or to work on our careers.
Why do we always strive for more?
In my opinion, we all want to reach a point when we feel accomplished.
But what the hell is accomplished?
Is it having a family?
What if you want to be career driven?
But then will people assume you are lonely without a family?
I'll tell you what accomplished is...
It's whatever you want it to be!
I can't tell you how to reach your feeling of accomplishment...
I can give you a list of things to do in order to find your own freedom!
Here are a few challenges for you to complete to achieve that sense of freedom!
1. Hijack Someone's Day.
This is easy. Go into someone's work looking panicked and explain there's an emergency. Get them out of work then go out and do something you never usually have time to do.
(Or simply turn up to a friends house and take them out if they are usually too busy - Only a back-up!)
2. Cancel all plans for the day.
Just be happy and do you.
3. Have a make-over.
If you're feeling brave, let someone else do it. Your kids, a friend, a partner.
Someone who isn't you!
You could either end up feeling fabulous, knowing what your partner likes or just having some fun!
4. Have an impromptu party.
Call someone and tell them they have to come have a few drinks tonight. Repeat this to everyone you know.
(If you have kids, you don't get out of it that easy! Organise a random party! Kids can play, parents can socialise!)
5. Create a "Personal" resume.
Create a resume (C.V) about how awesome you are. Include your personal achievements, things you love about yourself, anything that's worth mentioning!
(Here's an example I've used previously - "I make a bad-ass cup of tea!")
6. Create a video for youtube. Promote it shamelessly.
Do a cover of a song, video a mundane task, your dog chasing its tail...
Promote like you could win an Oscar for it!
7. Bus hopping!
Get on a bus. Get an all day ticket.
Get off bus after a while, jump on the next bus you can get on.
The longer you do it, the more fun (and further away!) it is!
8. Doll up for the day.
Pull your glad-rags out to go shopping.
Meet friends in fancy number.
Dress in a style you've always wanted to try.
The point is, own your body, your style and your personality.
Then go and flaunt it!
9. Walk to work.
Remember when you would put your headphones on and just walk to the destination letting the songs own your mood?
Do that. Walk with style, jog with music blaring or dance all the way to your destination. Imagine nothing else in that moment can touch you. It's you and your music.
10. Spontaneous Piercing/Tattoo
Just walk in and get something. This is one I don't usually encourage, but hear me out. Instead of sitting around contemplating that piercing/tattoo you've always wanted, just go and have it. Especially if it has reached a year and you still want that piercing/tattoo. Don't allow yourself to continuously make excuses. You want it, you get it. Allow yourself to indulge in a permanent body modification. (They say permanent, but there are ways!)
11. Call into the radio
Request a song and then say Hi to your momma! Even if they refuse your song request, just do something to make your voice heard over radio. Enter a content, ring in regarding an opinion on the conversation. Join the community, you don't have to agree with everyone, but you can remind yourself that you can be heard...even to complete strangers.
12. Audition
Got a talent? Now's the time. Audition for something!! Be it X factor, Britains got talent or an open audition for acting. Put yourself out there and remember the worst thing they can do is say no. If you don't want to do something serious, just go and make people smile. Let yourself be judged on your terms and remind yourself that you are in control of your actions, not them.
(Or, alternatively, just show up and do something crazy instead!)
13. Rearrange your home.
Creature of habit? Change it up a little! Even if it's just the bedroom! Sometimes a slight change to your surroundings could perk up your mood. Maybe let more light in, move the bookcase from the bedroom into the living room. Just give yourself a change around. What's the worst that could happen? If you don't like it, move it back!
14. Organise a flash mob.
Get your community together! Whether it's just for fun or to make a statement! Heck, just get a bunch of friends in your garden doing the YMCA! It's about that feeling of union and togetherness. Becoming part of something just for the fun of it. Or join one near you if you're not big on being the leader. But this is definitely something to experience at some point in your life.
15. Write love notes and leave in library books.
Make someone else's day. Trust me on this one.
Don't let yourself wait and watch who gets it. Just leave a note in a book and walk away. Imagine the person who may have found it. They could have been having a low day, and that one note has lifted their spirits.
If you're not a big reader, then what about a note on a receipt in a cafe? Write in the paper on the bus. If just to tell someone that they matter in this world. Take one of your good days and spread the love to someone else.

16. Have a mad hatters tea party.
Because there is no point being normal anyway!!!
Have friends round, or don't. Drink out of strange mugs, or don't. Host a party for one, or have a teddy bears picnic. Just do something out of the ordinary so you know you can accept yourself and your quirks. Everyone has them. Find something you love that is slightly out of the ordinary and have yourself a tea party. Even if it's imaginary with a child within the family...They always have a bright imagination and, if you let them, they can take you to a whole new universe.

17. Face a fear.
Only you know that fear. Only you can free yourself from it. Face up to that fear a beat its ass!
18. Complete a project.
Scrapbooking, DIY, A series of youtube videos.
It can be as simple as completing all the challenges on this list!
Just complete something and bask in your glory.

19. Find your own closure.
Think of something that caused you pain and write a letter about it. Destroy the letter. Or frame it. Or share it. It is your closure on your topic. Let it out.
(For example, writing a letter to an ex that hurt you, then burning it)
20. Go electronics free!
Don't rely on your phone. Turn the television off. Go out and experience life like before electronics took over our lives.
Read a book.
Go for a walk.
Pamper yourself.
Just for a day, ignore that urge to keep checking social media. You don't need it to be happy.

Most of all - Have fun with it!
Very cool and unique advice. It could also be a bucket list too
ReplyDeleteI love it! Too often we do what we "should" do and not what we want to do.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the praise :)
DeleteExactly the point :)
DeleteExactly. My mind was here today and I have been blogging about it.
ReplyDeleteYou should give it a go! I plan on following my own advice once my EDS settles down :) xx
